A simple museum tour was something special for three Canfield Girl Scouts on June 28. Not only did they get a private tour of the War Veterans Museum, but they did it under the new rank of Brownie.

Girls from Troop80063, a combined Canfield-Poland troop, had scheduled a special tour at the museum that included a troop meeting. Troop advisers Lluvia Krukowski and Meshelle Navarro held a brief troop meeting at which time three Canfield girls from the troop officially made the move from Bluebird to Brownie.

"Although they still had their Bluebird vests, they were now officially Brownies," said Meshelle.

Following the troop meeting, new Brownies Paige Roberts, Victoria Krukowski, and Nyah Navarro began a tour of the museum's four floors. Some of the artifacts were found to be fascinating.

"I can't believe how heavy this is," said Nyah as she tried on a vintage World War I Army helmet.

Other items that fascinated the girls included the vintage hand-crank phonograph that played 78 rpm records.

The girls wrapped up their tour in the basement with the "Trains of the Great Wars" exhibit. They came to the museum as Bluebirds and left as Brownies.

"It was a truly special day for all three girls," said adviser Lluvia.
