YWCA Mahoning Valley announced the People's Choice Award Winner last week for the 36th annual "Women Artists: A Celebration!" art show. The winner, Judith Keefer of Poland, was presented with a check at the YWCA. Her oil painting, "Daughter of Nations," received the most votes by the public during the voting period.

"We are proud at the YWCA to showcase the work of so many talented women artists from all over the country," said Leah Merritt, President and CEO of YWCA Mahoning Valley. "What our show does best is highlight local women like Judith Keefer and provides a great venue for women-artists by trade or by hobby-to share their work in a setting where it can be seen by family, friends, and colleagues."

The YWCA Women Artists: A Celebration! annual art exhibition showcases works by local, regional, and national women artists age 18 and older. New this year is a special "17 Under 17" show, celebrating the talents of young women artists! This year's show was judged by Claudia Berlinski, professor of art at YSU, and features 142 pieces, including paintings, drawings, photographs, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, and metal work.

YWCA Mahoning Valley is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families and strengthen our community. YWCA Mahoning Valley is part of an international movement serving over 2 million in the United States and 25 million worldwide.
