Householder signs with Tiffin for volleyball
December 5, 2018

On Nov. 16, Canfield senior volleyball player Alyssa Householder signed her letter of intent to continue her volleyball career at Tiffin University next fall.

Householder first started playing organized volleyball in seventh grade. Prior to high school she also played softball, soccer, and basketball, but as a freshman she put her focus on volleyball.

"In high school I chose to focus on volleyball since I play it year round now," she said.

Over her volleyball career at CHS, Householder earned several honors. In her junior year she was named first team all-district and second team all-conference. In her senior year was first team all-district and all-conference as well as District 1, Div. 1 Player of the Year. She also earned WYTV's Athlete of the Week honors.

As for her choice of schools, she already had some knowledge about Tiffin.

"I chose Tiffin because while I had other offers, Tiffin was the only school that had my specific degree," Householder said. "Also, for school volleyball we do a team camp at Tiffin every summer, so I already knew the campus pretty well, and could really see myself fitting there."

Householder plans to major in Homeland Security and Terrorism, and plans on getting a job related to Emergency Management, but she hasn't decided for sure yet.

As for what she will miss the most about Canfield, she said, "I'm definitely going to miss my teammates the most, because this year we all really bonded and became super close. I'm also really going to miss playing for my mom and alongside my sister."
